Duško Vujošević buried in Belgrade

Celebrated basketball coach Duško Vujošević was buried today in the Alley of Meritorious Citizens at the New Cemetery in Belgrade.

The legendary Partizan coach passed away last Sunday at the age of 68 after a long and serious illness.

The funeral was attended by numerous basketball players, coaches and basketball workers such as Željko Obradović, Predrag Danilović, Aleksandar Đorđević, Žarko Paspalj, Zoran Slavnić, Vlado Šćepanović, Slavko Vraneš, Zvezdan Mitrović, Đuro Ostojić, Luka Pavićević, Miroslav Berić, Mlađan Šilobad, Novica Veličković, Dušan Kecman, Dragan Bokan, Danilo Mitrović and Vesko Barović.

Also present were the president of the Partizan Basketball Club Ostoja Mijailović, the president of the Partizan Football Club Rasim Ljajić, the vice presidents of the Partizan Football Club Predrag Mijatović and Danko Lazović, and the Partizan football players, along with coach Srđan Blagojević.

Also present were current Partizan basketball players, as well as Serbian national basketball player Filip Petrushev, former Serbian basketball player Darko Miličić, basketball agent Miško Ražnatović, actor and director Dragan Bjelogrlić, and former Partizan basketball captain Geoffrey Lauvergne.

Among the politicians present were former Serbian President Boris Tadić, Minister of Interior Ivica Dačić, Democratic Party (DS) President Srđan Milivojević, former DS President Zoran Lutovac, leader of the Kreni-Promijeni movement Savo Manojlović, and Vice President of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Branko Ružić.

On behalf of the Vujošević family, a speech was given by Boris Tadić, who said that he believed that everyone present was honored to have known Duško Vujošević and that he personally did not know a better man than the legendary Partizan coach.

"Dule dedicated his life to Partizan. Thank you to Partizan for sending Dule off the way he deserved, with dignity and with a lot of emotion. Special thanks to the Partizan fans for the love you and the General shared for the club. I hope that this city will deserve to have a street named after Duško Vujošević. That is the least this city can do for him," said Tadić.

Vujošević was buried with Đorđe Balašević's song "Stih iznad svih", and Partizan fans then sang the song "Da volim crno-bijele".
