There were several scenarios in the last round of the Euroleague regular season that Red Star fans were hoping for - none of them happened, so if the "red and white" want to make it to the playoffs, they will have to go through the hardest possible path.
Red Star finished the season in tenth place after losing to Real Madrid, tonight Panathinaikos, Monaco and Barcelona recorded routine triumphs...
This means that Red Star Belgrade will play Barca away in the play-in (Tuesday).
The Catalans outclassed Bayern at home tonight (95:69) and surpassed the Belgrade team thanks to a better head-to-head record.
Panathinaikos secured seventh place before the play-in with an easy win over Anadolu Efes (97:62) and will host Monaco, which defeated Hapoel in Monte Carlo (105:85).
The losers of the clash between the "greens" and the "princes" will host the winner of the duel between Barcelona and Red Star - the winner of that match will secure a place in the quarterfinals and a duel with Olympiacos, the first in the standings.
Olympiacos, Valencia, Real Madrid, Fenerbahçe, Žalgiris and Hapoel qualified directly for the quarterfinals.
The playoffs are scheduled to begin on April 28th, and two pairings are already known: Real - Hapoel and Fenerbahçe - Zalgiris.
