Madison Square Garden was defended - the New York Knicks took a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference finals of the strongest basketball league, after defeating Cleveland 109-93 (24-27, 29-22, 32-21, 24-23).
Unlike the first game, in which the home team came back from a 22-point deficit, in the second game everything was decided midway through the third quarter with an 18:0 run in favor of the Knicks.
Josh Hart, with 26 points and a great three-pointer in the second half, punished the Cavaliers' decision not to trust him and let him shoot from distance, and he responded with five three-pointers.
Jaylen Brunson led the way with 19 points and 14 assists, and his three-pointer started the scoring run. Mikel Bridges also scored 19 points, and Karl-Anthony Towns had a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds.
The Knicks are racing toward their first Finals since 1999 with their ninth consecutive victory.
The crowd doesn't want the East finals series to return - "We want a four-game win," Gardena shouted.
The Cavs collectively had one more assist than Branson, and the problem was the insufficiently recovered first star, Donovan Mitchell, who still managed to score 26 points. The three-point shot was not even a weapon for the Cavaliers, and they missed 10 free throws.
The Cavaliers have already managed to turn things around once in these playoffs after losing the first two games, but the Knicks seem more rested and fresh.
