Another break, smells like a New York title, Vembanyama misses the winning shot

The New York Knicks made another break, defeating San Antonio (105:104) away and taking a 2:0 lead in the NBA Finals.

Unlike the first game, in which they made up for a 13-point deficit, the Knicks had a 14-point lead last night (97:83), but the Spurs came back and had a shot to win. However, Victor Vembanyama was not accurate.

At the beginning of the second quarter, San Antonio had a nine-point lead (37:25). The Knicks first halved the deficit (38:32), and at the end of the first half, they turned it around, when Landry Shamet scored for 49:48.

New York went into the break with a four-point lead (56:52), and then at the start of the third quarter they reached plus 10 - 64:54. The Knicks maintained their lead, which at one point during the last quarter amounted to the aforementioned 14 points (97:83). But San Antonio did not give up, and on the wings of Victor Wembanyama made a 14:0 run and tied the score - 97:97.

With 57 seconds left, the Spurs took the lead for the first time in the second half (104:102, Vembanyama hit a two-pointer and then an additional free throw). Then, on the other side, Jalen Branson scored two points and was half-pointed from the penalty spot, so with 7,5 seconds left, the advantage was on the Knicks' side - 105:104. The Spurs went on the offensive to win, but Vembanyama missed the opportunity to bring the team the victory.

The most efficient player on the winning team was Karl-Anthony Towns with 21 points, while Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges each added 20.

On the other side, Victor Wembanyama stood out with 29 points, while Dieron Fox scored 20.

New York has tied its 13th playoff win, and the next game is scheduled for Monday night.
