The youngest club in the ABA League, Admiralbet, is close to its first cup - just two years after its founding and in its second season in the regional basketball competition, Dubai has come within a whisker of winning the title.
The team from the United Arab Emirates defeated Partizan in the second match of the ABA League final - defending their "Coca Cola" arena with a score of 86:81.
The current champion now has no room for error and will have to win in the next two matches in Belgrade to win the championship in Dubai. Any other outcome would send the trophy to the Middle East.
Dubai "built" its second triumph in the finals through the third quarter when Mfionda Kabengele and Aleksa Avramović scored a tough seven points and turned Partizan's lead from 59:56 to 63:62. After that, Aleksandar Sekulić's team was calmer and knew how to "close" the game.
Dubai was led to victory by Džanan Musa and Avramović with 16 points each, while Kabengele added 13.
For Partizan, Bruno Fernando scored 16 points, and Karlik Jones added 15 points.
The first match in Belgrade will be played on Wednesday at 19 p.m.
