14 years ago, Bojan Dubljević arrived in Valencia from Buducnost Voli. Over the next 11 seasons, the Nikšić native wrote his own and club history and became a Valencia legend.
That is, a legend with a capital L. This is how Valencia saw off Dubljević's career, as the Montenegrin basketball player decided to end his active basketball career.
"Bojan Dubljević, a legend with a capital L, has announced his retirement from professional basketball. The Valencia native, born in Nikšić, Montenegro, spent 11 unforgettable years defending the jersey of our club from 2012 to 2023," Valencia said in a statement.
Dubljević is the best scorer and rebounder in Valencia's history, and second on the list of players with the most games played.
"Dubi's number 14 will live forever. The jersey with his number will be retired and will hang forever in the 'Roig arena', and one of the courts at L'Alqueria del Basket (Valencia's youth academy) will be named after him. The club will announce the date and time of the jersey retirement ceremony, once it is officially confirmed," Valencia said.
Dubljević won the Eurocup twice with Valencia, as well as the only title in the Endesa League, in 2017, when he was the MVP of the final.
He was a two-time Rising Star, or the best young player, of the EuroCup. He was twice selected to the competition's best five (2017 and 2019), and three times to the second five (2012, 2014, and 2022).
He was twice in the ideal five of the Endesa League (2017 and 2019).
He also won the Spanish Super Cup with Valencia in 2017.
After Valencia, he moved to Zenit (in 2023), from where he arrived in Zaragoza, where he spent the last two seasons of his career.
