The future of Voli continues to form the team for next season, and the new member of the "blue and whites" is South Sudan national team player Marijal Shayok.
The experienced basketball player, born on July 26, 1995 in Ottawa, is 198 centimeters tall and covers the two and three positions.
"He brings points, quality shooting, physical strength and experience playing in the NBA, Euroleague, as well as in the biggest national competitions to Podgorica," said Buducnost.
Shayok began his college career at the University of Virginia, but made his mark at Iowa State. In his last NCAA season, he averaged 18,7 points, 4,9 rebounds and 1,9 assists, shooting 49,6 percent from the field, 38,6 percent from three-point range and 87,8 percent from the free throw line.
He was Iowa State's leading scorer, selected to the Big 12 Conference's first five, and with his team won the conference tournament, where he was named the most valuable player.
He was selected by Philadelphia with the 54th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He made four appearances for the 76ers, while he played a much more prominent role in the developmental league.
He showed that he can be a key player in the offense while playing for the Delaware Blue Coats and Maine Celtics. During his two seasons in the G League, he averaged 21,8 points, 5,4 rebounds and four assists, while shooting almost 40 percent of his three-point shots.
He began his European career with Bursa, after which he played for Fenerbahçe. He won the Turkish championship with the Istanbul club, and during his career he also wore the jerseys of Shandong, Liaoning, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Japanese Altiri Chiba.
He played for Fenerbahçe and Maccabi in the Euroleague, playing a total of 35 games. He won the national cup with the Israeli club in 2025.
Shayok plays a particularly important role in the South Sudan national team, with which he competed at the 2023 World Cup and the Paris Olympics.
He averaged 13,2 points, 3,6 rebounds and 2,2 assists at the World Basketball Championship, helping South Sudan qualify for its first ever Olympic Games. At the Paris Olympics, he averaged 14,7 points and 3,7 rebounds per game.
Shayok made a special appearance in the preseason game against the United States, scoring 25 points and making six three-pointers against the NBA All-Stars. South Sudan was on the verge of a big sensation, but the US team won 101-100.
