The Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball club announced today that Daniel Theis is the club's new player.
The 34-year-old German basketball player has signed a two-year contract with the Israeli club.
Tijs arrives in Maccabi from Monaco where he spent the last season and a half.
He averaged 9,7 points, five rebounds and 0,8 blocks in 38 EuroLeague games last season. He helped Monaco win four domestic trophies in the 2025-26 season. A year earlier, he joined the team mid-season and helped it reach the EuroLeague final.
Tijs began his career in Germany. He made his EuroLeague debut with Brose Bamberg, helping them win three consecutive German championships and one German Cup between 2014 and 2017.
He subsequently played in the NBA for Boston, Chicago, Houston, Indiana, the Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans, before moving to Monaco in 2025.
Tijs won gold medals with the German national team at the 2023 World Championship and the 2025 EuroBasket. He also won a bronze medal at the 2022 European Championship.
