Marijal Šajok is a new name on the roster of the Future Voli for the upcoming season. The Canadian international with Nigerian roots arrives in Podgorica with experience playing at a high level, but also after a summer in which he left a strong impression in the Canadian jersey.

He particularly stood out in the duel against the United States of America, when he scored 25 points and was one of the most deserving of his team's victory until the very end.

Šajok will try to bring to Buducnost exactly what he had in the national team jersey – energy, physical strength, versatility in attack and the ability to guard multiple positions.

In his first interview for the club's website, he spoke about his arrival in Podgorica, the reasons why he chose Budućnost, the ABA League, national team experience and expectations for the new season.

To begin with, how would you describe yourself as a player and what can Buducnost fans expect from you?

- I'm happy to be here. I would say I'm a very versatile player. I can score points in different ways, I shoot well off the dribble and I can guard multiple positions thanks to my physical predispositions. The fans can expect me to play hard every day, with a lot of passion and energy, to fight for victory and to be the best version of myself in every game.

What attracted you to Buducnost and what made you decide to continue your career in Podgorica?

- First of all, the club culture, which I heard a lot about from the coach during the interview. I also researched the club. A lot of players remained from last season, which was very good. I wanted to come and bring what I do best, to fit into the team and help it win as many games as possible.

You recently scored 25 points against the USA and came very close to leading your team to victory. How much did that experience mean to you?

- It was a great feeling, especially because I was playing for my country. It meant a lot to me because of the people back home and how many people I was able to inspire. It was really special to play against some of the best players in the world.

How much did you know and follow the ABA League before coming to Buducnost?

- Yes, I had a few teammates who played in the ABA League. My Olympic teammate, Karlik Jones, plays in the ABA League, and I have a few former college teammates who are now playing in Dubai, like Justin Anderson and Mamadi Diakite. The ABA League has always been considered one of the strongest leagues, and I had a lot of teammates and coaches from this part of Europe, so I always followed it a little bit.

What do you expect from the upcoming season and what would you like to achieve together?

- I expect us to play as a team and be as good as we can. I want to help the team win as many games as possible. I think if we play the right way, we will be in a good position.

How well do you know your new teammates and how long will it take you to fit into the new environment?

- No, I'm getting to know everyone now. I've heard about a few players, but I haven't met anyone personally. I'm looking forward to meeting them. I've heard a lot of good things about the chemistry in the team and the culture of the club, so I want to bring what I do best, fit in well with everyone and help the team be the best it can be.
