Three rounds have been played in the Euroleague, and Panathinaikos, Fenerbahce, Valencia and Partizan are at their peak performance.
Valencia's basketball players showed character in their last match, played on Friday, and celebrated a 105:92 victory over Asvel away from home. Last season's final tournament participant had 18 points down on three occasions, which they managed to make up for and maintain the maximum score in the championship.
The Spanish team was led to victory by Nikola Mirotic, who finished the match in France with 22 points, two rebounds and an index of 24. And with these 22 points, the former Spanish national team player climbed to third place among the best EuroLeague scorers of all time.
Mitrović played 310 games in the Euroleague, scoring a total of 4.458 points, surpassing the legendary Vasilis Spanoulis for third place. The Greek basketball player scored 4.455 points during his career. Mike James (5.961) is in first place, and Nando de Colo (5.193) is in second place.
"Thank God for giving me the health to continue playing basketball - a job I love. I don't want to stop. I'm grateful for all of this, as well as the great point guards who make my life easier," Mirotic said after the match.
He then reflected on the game in which his team had a big deficit, and allowed Asvel to score as many as 61 points in the first half.
"I'm proud of this team. This is a victory of character. After the first half, in which we didn't play good basketball - neither on defense nor on offense - we talked in the locker room. The coaching staff made great changes and believed in us. We continued to play our way in the second half. This is how we want to play. This is Valencia's style. This victory is incredible," said Mirotic.
Valencia will host Hapoel Tel Aviv in the next round of the Euroleague, on Thursday (8:30 PM).
