The men's kata team and the Montenegrin wrestling team are the best in the Balkans.
The bronze medal at the Balkan Championships in Budva today was won by the women's kata team, represented by Katarina Vlahović, Viktorija Raičević and Mia Ramović.
The men's kata team, consisting of Vladimir Mijač, Kenan Nikočević, Arijan Kočan and Nikola Milić, defeated Serbia 24,70-23,10 in the final.
"We are first again, for the third year in a row. I am especially pleased with my debut in the duel with Turkey. Big thanks to the coach Milena Milačić, the club coach Almir Cecunjanin and the Karate Federation," said Milić.
The team fought hard and defeated Turkey in the final, previously Romania 3:1, and Serbia after a comeback - 3:2.
The Balkan champions were Nenad Dulović, Nemanja Mikulić, Nemanja Jovović, Nikola Malović, Dušan Bijelić, Lazar Jovović and Lazar Potpara.
"We defended the Balkan champion title, congratulations to my teammates on a great fight and performance on the tatami. Thank you to the audience who supported us. I believe that the Balkan gold is a step towards a bigger medal and I am sure that this team deserves it. We just need to put a few more pieces together, we are missing some small things and I think we will achieve even greater achievements this year and we are looking forward to even bigger medals," said Malović.
Montenegro finished the championship with 14 medals - seven gold, four silver and three bronze.
Gold medals, in addition to the men's teams in kata and wrestling, were won by Nemanja Mikulić, Nemanja Jovović, Balša Vojinović and veteran Igor Dijanić in wrestling and Vladimir Mijač in kata.
The silver medals went to Nikola Malović, Jovana Stojanović and Milena Jovanović, and Kenan Nikočević in kata, and the bronze medals went to Nenad Dulović, Benjamin Aljošević and the women's kata team.
