The Minister of Sports and Youth, Dragoslav Šćekić, officially opened the European Senior Judo Championships, which will be held from April 23 to 27 at the "M:Tel Morača" Sports Center in Podgorica.
The Continental Judo Championship brought together competitors from 47 countries and is one of the largest sporting events organized by Montenegro.
"Our country has been awarded the organization of the European Judo Championship, which makes us particularly proud, but also grateful to everyone who has shown us their trust. This is a major sporting event and our chance, which I am sure we will use in the best possible way. First of all, with traditional hospitality and good organization, we will earn your long memory and deserve a new chance to organize major continental, perhaps even planetary level competitions," said Dragoslav Šćekić.

He also emphasized the importance of the support that the Government of Montenegro and the Ministry of Sports and Youth provide to the Judo Federation:
"This is the most important sports competition that Montenegro has ever organized and I am sure that everything will go as smoothly as possible. The Ministry of Sports and Youth, as well as the Government of Montenegro, have full confidence in the leadership of the Judo Federation and give them unreserved and sincere support to make it so."
The opening ceremony was also attended by the President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović, the President of the Judo Federation of Montenegro, Jovica Rečević, as well as numerous athletes and guests from the country and abroad.
As stated, the European Judo Championships represent a significant opportunity to promote Montenegro as a reliable host of major sporting events and further promote the sport of judo in the country.
