Montenegrin judoka Nikola Gardašević was stopped in the repechage, leaving him without a chance to compete for a medal at the European Championships in Podgorica.
On the other hand, Nebojša Gardašević and Novo Raičević were eliminated in the first round earlier today.
Gardašević defeated Bulgarian Georgi Gramatikov by submission at the start of the competition in the 81 kg category, while in the second round he was better than Timo Kavelius from Germany.
In the quarterfinals, he lost to Belgian Mathias Casse by a golden point, but despite the defeat, he continued competing in the championship through the repechage.
There he was stopped by Petru Pelivan from Moldova, and the victory in that duel led to the fight for the medal.
Gardašević achieved the best result among Montenegrin judokas in the Podgorica championship so far.
In the same category, his brother Nebojša Gardašević was defeated in the first round by Hristo Valkov.
The first round was the final stretch for Nova Raičević in the 90 kg category after he lost by knockout to Aleks Barto from Slovakia.
On Saturday, performances are expected from Slobodan Vukić (over 100 kilograms), Jovana Peković (up to 78) and Jovana Mrvaljević (over 78).
Vukić's rival will be Movli Borchašvili from Austria, Peković will fight Ana Monta Olek from Germany, and Mrvaljević against Marija Holevart from Austria.
On Sunday, the last day of the European Championship, a team competition is scheduled, in which the Montenegrin national team will make its debut.
