Montenegrin boxer Tomislav Đinović won the gold medal at the prestigious Brussels Capital Tournament in La Hulpe, a suburb of the Belgian capital.
The member of the Zlatičanin Boxing Club won the final match of the 60-kilogram category by defeating Indian Dikshant Dahi by stoppage in the third round.
Đinović dominated from the beginning of the fight, and his brilliant performance in the fight for gold was crowned in the third round, when he sent his rival to the floor with a powerful blow.
The Indian was unable to recover, so the referee stopped the fight.
Montenegro was also represented at the tournament in Brussels by Bojana Gojković, who won a bronze medal in the under 60 kilogram category.
Coach Nikola Ružić said that he was extremely proud of the performance of the Montenegrin national team at the strong tournament in Belgium.
"Success is confirmation that the effort and dedication in training pay off. The tournament showed us that we have the quality to compete with the best, but that there is still room for improvement. The performance in Brussels was very important for us to test our form. We saw what we need to work on further," said Ružić.
He pointed out that Gojković did not fight in her own category, but up to 60 kilograms, and announced that in the future she will compete only in that category.
"Djinovic has improved his form a lot compared to the tournament in Azerbaijan 20 days ago. We continue to work towards the main goal of this year, which is the World Senior Championships in Liverpool in September," said Ružić.
The tournament in Belgium brought together top male and female boxers from France, Australia, Italy, Poland, India, Serbia, Turkey, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Kosovo, Montenegro and the host country, Belgium.
