Filipino Manny Pacquiao, the only boxer in history to win world championship titles in eight weight classes, confirmed today that he will return to the ring on July 19 in Las Vegas against Mario Barrios.
"I'm back," Pacquiao, 46, said on social media.
Pacquiao will box against Barrios for the WBC welterweight world title.
The famous Filipino ended his career in September 2021 after 72 matches, in which he achieved 62 wins, had eight draws, and suffered eight losses.
"I'm returning to the ring on July 19th against WBC world welterweight champion Mario Barrios in Las Vegas," he stated.
Pacquiao returned to competition after participating in the Philippine elections and an unsuccessful attempt to enter the Senate.
"Let's make history," Pacquiao added.
He was a senator from 2016 to 2022, and in 2022 he unsuccessfully ran for President of the Philippines.
Pacquiao will be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in June.
Barrios is a 30-year-old Mexican-American boxer who has 32 wins, two losses and one draw in 29 fights.
