Montenegrin judoka Stefan Kovinić won third place at the Pan American Open, which was held on October 14th in Lima (Peru).
Kovinić was defeated by Uruguayan Carabao Cuellar Sandi in the semifinals of the over 100 kilogram category, and then shone in the bronze medal match.
In the fight for the medal, he defeated Venezuelan competitor Luis Amescuita by ippon.
"Although still a junior, Stefan has made significant progress in the World Senior Rankings with this success, moving up 70 places. He is currently in 114th position," the Montenegrin Judo Federation announced, concluding:
"This is another great result and proof that Montenegrin judo has a bright future."
