Podgorica will host the European Junior Cup this weekend, which will be attended by 249 competitors from 29 countries, the Montenegrin Judo Federation announced.
It is stated that Montenegrin judo will be represented by 46 competitors, 34 in the men's competition and 12 in the women's competition.
The President of the Judo Federation, Jovica Rečević, said that the organization of the European Cup continues the European judo story.
"We are closing the competitive season in the right way. We are organizing a major European tournament again, the pride of all of us," Rečević said at a press conference.
Vice President Marinko Jovović pointed out that the Judo Federation received praise from the European Judo Association for organizing events from its calendar.
"The fact that representatives of 29 countries will participate in the European Cup in Podgorica speaks for itself," said Jovović.
Of the Montenegrin representatives, the most expected are Stefan Kovinić and Andrijana Šutović.
She said that a difficult period is behind her and that she is returning after a long break due to an injury.
"It is a great honor for me to perform in front of my audience and I hope to achieve a good result," said Šutović.
Kovinić expects the best juniors in Europe to perform in Podgorica.
"This year has been quite successful for me. It is more of a motivation and obligation to show myself in the best light in front of our audience," said Kovinić.
