Great success of the Judo Federation of Montenegro - at the European Judo Union Congress, it received recognition for the best organized event in 2025.
The Montenegrin Federation was awarded for organizing the European Senior Championship, which was held in Podgorica from April 23 to 27.
In the strong competition of numerous competitions, a total of 114 in 2025, this recognition is an indication that our country and the Judo Federation have done a great job in organizing a competition of great importance.
“This country’s journey began just under two years ago with the organization of the European Cup. Six months later, another European Cup was held, this time flawlessly organized from start to finish. A few months later, the final test before the big day came, when they proved they were ready to make history… and just over 30 days later, they did just that – and in style. The arena was filled with the European judo elite, the hospitality was exceptional, and the warmth of the welcome was unforgettable,” the European Judo Federation announced.
The president of the Judo Federation of Montenegro was pleased with the award.
“This is a great achievement, not only for me, but also for the entire team behind this event, as well as a moment of great recognition from the European Judo Union and its President, Dr. Laszlo Tot. The impact of organizing the Senior European Judo Championships is already being felt across the country. In just over two decades, the number of registered judokas in Montenegro has grown significantly – from around 1.170 athletes to more than 3.000 children who are training judo today. This growth represents a true legacy of the event, greater involvement, renewed enthusiasm and a stronger future for judo in Montenegro,” said the President of the Judo Federation of Montenegro, Jovica Rečević, adding that this award does not represent the end of the road, but an important milestone.
Montenegro will host the European Junior and Senior Cups next year, the most important competition will be the Junior Championship of the Old Continent, and at the end of the year our country will organize the European Judo Union Congress.
