The Karate Federation Assembly will vote on the new leadership on January 12th, and it is certain that the candidate for president will be the man whose name is synonymous with this trophy sport - Vesko Mićović. The world vice-champion from Mexico City, winner of the World Cup in Tokyo and winner of the team bronze medal in the fights in South Africa, has a clear goal - to establish unity in the Federation.

After three brilliant years, the most successful in terms of results and international activities, because Montenegro was entrusted with the biggest competition on the Old Continent, in recent months the system has been destroyed by the conflict between two opposing camps.

- Karate has only one problem, and that is the division into two camps. Instead of the program, which I created in 40 points of karate development, I come across questions - "whose are you?". I have never classified myself and I guess it is known who I am in this sport and I want children to have a chance, for competitors to have excellent preparations, conditions and a systematic work in which the result will not be conditioned by: "someone jumps". After all, it is known that I am a karate man, and my daughter also trains in this sport and wants to compete - says Mićović and adds:

- There are great and good people in both camps, top experts, and it is only necessary to respect the Code of Ethics. Karate is not about arguments and bad words. Once, due to disrespect for the basic postulates of karate, agreements, etc., I left the Association in which I was the president of the Ethics Commission. Some clubs are represented by people who do not deserve it, on the other hand, the management, which did a great job, neglected dialogue and communication with clubs through its enormous activities on the international scene - explained Mićović.

Twice elected as the Athlete of Montenegro, in 1990 and four years later, Mićović has a clear vision for the future of Montenegrin karate.

- A strong Federation is a prerequisite for everything and these particular interests of clubs, smaller or larger, must be forgotten and put in the interest of general progress. Only a strong Federation guarantees good work and results, progress for clubs and national teams. We saw that after the conflict in the Federation, we stopped winning medals at the biggest competitions and only Vladimir MIjač had a medal match in kata - said Mićović.

In the election for president of the Alliance Assembly, the difference between the two candidates was two votes.

- The discord was influenced by some poor personnel decisions in the clubs, the merging of functions in the Federation and the lack of communication, which was indeed a rare omission in the work of the administration whose mandate is expiring. I will ask for respect for the code of ethics and for us to move forward together, with the goal of introducing karate to kindergartens, schools, establishing regional leagues, veterans' leagues, Paralympic karate..., because if it's good for Germany, why not for us too - concluded Mićović.
