The stakes are huge on Victory Day, May 9th, at SC "Nikšić", the Intercontinental super middleweight title in one of the four most prestigious versions, the WBO. Montenegrin boxer Milorad Žižić's rival for the belt comes from Ghana, 33-year-old Delali Miledzi with 30 professional wins, 23 by knockout.
The victory in the "Boxing Night" in Nikšić, which starts at 19 p.m., also brings a high rating for the title of contender for the WBO world champion title, and in any case, the 39-year-old from Nikšić hopes to face the winner of the opening fight of the defense of the title of the best in the world, Ukrainian Aleksandr Usyk in Egypt, in which Hamza Šeraz and Alen Begić will fight in the super middleweight division.
"With three wins last year, I got the opportunity to attack a big title! The fighter from Ghana is a tall, strong, experienced and serious boxer. I think I'm faster and I punch harder, but I won't make promises or run around with words, but I want the ring to be a place to measure ourselves. It's an additional motivation for me to defend my home ring and delight my audience," says Mićko Žižić and adds:
"I prepared myself very well, I have never trained with more will and desire with coach Jovan-Joc Todorović, who has been with me throughout my career. I have also been to numerous foreign gyms, gaining experience. My team now includes Draško Radojičić, a new member is the renowned coach Stefan Hubert, as well as world champion Anđela Branković. She is younger, but she means a lot to me because she is a huge inspiration and motivation - said Mićko Žižić.
The press conference was attended by the Director of the Directorate for Sports Zoran Jojić, former European Champion and Intercontinental IBF Champion Miodrag-Mijo Perunović, and Mićko's father, former national champion Veselin Žižić, and Tomislav-Bato Đinović, who will be the protagonist of the main opening fight.
Mićko has won 16 times in the professional ring, winning 10 matches by knockout and losing twice. Bato is in the midst of a successful Olympic career, is the Belgrade winner and bronze medalist at the European Championship, and has won four matches in the professional ring so far, three by knockout. His rival also comes from Africa, Felix Ayon.
"I'm looking forward to boxing again in such a spectacle, because last time the hall was packed. Then I finished the match quickly, quickly and I want to do it again. I promise you that the rival will run in the ring, saving himself, and the audience will be satisfied," emphasized the young boxer BK Zlatičanin.
There will be a total of seven opening fights in the "Boxing Night" in Nikšić, with ticket prices of a symbolic 10 euros for the stands, and 20 or 30 for the ground.
"The fact that the state representative is here is a sign that professional boxers are no longer lonely like they were during my career, and that they have support. I have known Mićko since my earliest childhood, after all, his father got me, but I forgave him," joked the famous boxer Mijo, and added:
"Mićko has the courage and desire, boxing knowledge to realize his wishes in a great atmosphere and with support from the stands," concluded Perunović.
Jojić wished Mićko luck, thanked him for the great promotion of Montenegro, which is what the fight for the Intercontinental title of the prestigious WBO version is, while Veselin Žižić expressed his words of gratitude.
"First of all, to the coaches, Mićko's team, sparring partners from the Perjanik MMA club, but also to the Municipality and Tourist Organization of Nikšić, the Directorate of Sports of Montenegro and sponsors. I want us to show Europe and the world our hospitality, sportsmanship and fair play, but also that we have the knowledge to prove how great our boxing is. After all, it was Mijo who showed the world how much we can do by winning the European Championship final over Savchenko, at the peak of his career," emphasized Veselin Žiži, multiple boxing champion of the SFR Yugoslavia.
