The Montenegrin judo team won 11 individual medals and a bronze in the team competition at the Balkan Cadet Championship, which was organized in Budva over the weekend.
The filled stands of the Mediterranean Sports Center during both days of the competition are an indicator of the quality of the tournament, which brought together 400 participants from 10 countries.
The gold medal for Montenegro was won by Jovan Radulović in the 90 kilogram category.
In the final, he was better than his compatriot Tadija Đurović, who won silver in Budva.
Silver medals were also won by Slavko Prodanović (+90 kg), Vukan Popivoda (-81 kg) and Vanja Guzina (-57 kg), while bronze medals went to Milan Barović and Vasilije Milašević in the under 50 kg category, Nađa Simović (-40 kg), Nikola Čelebić (-60 kg), Ognjen Radošević (-66 kg) and Matija Radović (-73 kg).
The following were one step away from a medal: Mihailo Burić (-81 kg), Milorad Tadić (-55 kg), Sejla Spahić (-63 kg), Nikola Perović (-66 kg) and Martin Bulajić (90 kg), who were in fifth place.
The successful championship was rounded off with a bronze medal in the team competition after an impressive victory over Moldova in the medal match.
During the opening ceremony of the championship, which received the highest marks in terms of organization, speeches were made by the President of the Judo Federation of Montenegro Jovica Rečević, Director of the Directorate for Sports in the Government of Montenegro Zoran Jojić, President of the Municipality of Budva Nikola Jovanović, and President of the Balkan Judo Association Branislav Crnogorac.
This is the second international competition in our country after the European Senior Cup in March in Podgorica.
In early September, Podgorica will host the best juniors from the Old Continent, while in October the European Junior Cup will be organized, also in the capital.
