Montenegrin karatekas Vladimir Mijač in kata and Jovana Damjanović in grappling will compete for bronze medals at the European Championships in Frankfurt on Saturday.
Mijač, bronze medalist at last year's championship in Yerevan, was free at the start of the championship, in the second round he defeated Hungarian Adam Bardos 4:3, and in the third round he defeated Senaid Veladžić from Bosnia and Herzegovina 7:0.
In the quarterfinals, he was stopped by Turkish kata player Enes Ozdemir 4:3, who, by qualifying for the final, pulled him into the repechage.
He won the medal fight by defeating Mikhail Mkhitaryan from Armenia.
The rival of the karateka from Bar in Saturday's medal match will be Slovak Roman Hrčka.
In the first two rounds of the competition in the over 68 kilogram category, Damjanović eliminated Erdona Ziberi from North Macedonia (0:0) and Ajsel Gasimova from North Macedonia (5:3), while in the quarterfinals she lost to Frenchwoman Clemons Pia (3:1).
The Frenchwoman advanced to the finals in the remainder of the tournament and gave the member of the Youth team another chance to continue the competition.
Damjanović eliminated Spain's Maria Garcia Torres 7:4 in the repechage and won the medal match.
She will face Slovenian Marija Zala Zibret in Saturday's medal match.
Montenegrin kata representative Mila Mraković had to give up her match to Turkish karateka Nur Kejde Čolak due to a finger injury.
Among the Montenegrin karatekas, Lazar Jovović (-75 kg), Nemanja Mikulić (-84 kg), Lazar Potpara (+84 kg), Nađa Boričić (-61 kg) and Marijam Zahrane (-68 kg) will also compete by the end of the first competition day.
