Montenegrin professional boxer Milorad Žižić is ranked a fantastic ninth in the latest WBO list of the best in the super middleweight category.
A great result, which also allows an attack on the world championship belt of that prestigious federation, which is now owned by Briton Hamza Sherez.
Žižić, the current WBO intercontinental champion, previously received official status as a challenger for the world title, but the opportunity also depends on the plans of the champion, sponsors...
However, entering the Top 10 is certainly a result to be proud of, not only for Mić's team but also for Montenegrin sports.
During his professional career, Žižić achieved a record of 17 wins, 11 of which ended by knockout, with two losses he suffered while performing in the United States.
"I am glad that my enormous work, effort and dedication have paid off by joining the greats. Being among the nine in the world is no small feat, especially when we know that there are a large number of top boxers in my category. This is an additional motivation for me to work even harder and better in order to achieve my dream and fight for the world champion title," said the man from Nikšić and added:
"I want to thank my team, family and all the people who have supported me on this journey. Let's move on."
Montenegro has not had the opportunity to have its boxer enter the biggest ring for a long time, more precisely until 2016. If all the pieces fall into place, Žižić could be only the fourth of our boxers since gaining independence to fight for the championship title.
Dejan Zlatičanin took advantage of the opportunity by winning the WBC lightweight belt, Nikola Sjekloća lost to Arthur Abraham in Germany for the WBO super middleweight belt after 12 rounds by controversial decisions, while Predrag Radošević lost to LIAM SMITH in Liverpool in the same version of super welterweight.
He last fought for boxing's biggest trophy a decade ago.
