The young boxing team of Montenegro will participate in the jubilee 10th Junior Nations Cup, which will be held in Vrbas from June 10 to 14, the Boxing Federation announced.
It is stated that the traditional international tournament will bring together male and female competitors aged 15 and under and 17, and the matches will be organized, as in previous years, at the "Drago Jovović" Physical Education Center.
Coach Nikola Ružić selected seven male and one female boxers to compete in Vrbas.
The honor of Montenegrin boxing will be defended by competitors from six Montenegrin clubs - Nikola Raičević (57), Andrija Nikitović (60) and Ivan Tijanić (63) from BK Nikšić, Nikola Ilić (57) from BK Podgorica, Strahinja Mrdak (54) from BK Budva, Veselin Dedić (75) from BK Power Boxing and Vasilije Bugarin (over 80) from BK Bijelo Polje in the men's competition and Ena Hot (57) from BK Feniks, who will be the only representative in the women's competition.
Ilic, who recently won a tournament in Hungary, will fight in the under-15 age group, while the other seven national team members will box in the under-17 age group.
The Montenegrin team at the tournament will be led by coaches Boško Drašković and Slavko Mrdak.
Coach Ružić said that the primary goal is to continuously provide opportunities for young and talented fighters to gain the necessary international experience.
"The Nations Cup in Vrbas is traditionally a strong tournament and an ideal opportunity to see where our juniors stand in relation to strong foreign competition. We have an extremely talented generation that has already proven its quality on the international stage," said Ružić.
He emphasized that he believes in them, as well as in the professional work of the coaches who lead them.
"I expect them to give their best in the ring, show good boxing and represent Montenegro in a dignified manner," said coach Ružić.
