Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor's return to the octagon lasted just over a minute, after he injured his knee in today's UFC 329 fight against American Max Holloway.
McGregor returned to competition after five years, and the match ended in a technical knockout and victory for Holloway, as McGregor injured his right knee after 69 seconds of the fight.
McGregor tried to kick his opponent and landed awkwardly. He tried to lean on his leg and continue, but he couldn't, so the victory went to Holloway.
The welterweight fight was supposed to last five rounds. Holloway announced a third fight with McGregor, as the score is now 1:1.
"Give McGregor a round of applause, what a beast he is. You're lucky because you're going to see the third Holloway-McGregor fight. Let's take that money. That's the situation. I'll talk to the UFC people, there's a lot of dust up about this. We need to have another rematch," Holloway said, according to the BBC.
"We need another match. I was really looking forward to this fight, I worked hard to get to about 77 kilograms and fight this guy. It's just a shame that it all ended this way," he added.
McGregor last fought in 2021, when he broke his leg in a match against American Dustin Poirier.
