Roganović dominates to reach the quarterfinals of the European Championship

Montenegrin national team member Matija Roganović advanced to the quarterfinals of the European Youth Championship (U19) in Loznica, after he dominantly defeated Ukrainian national team member David Kurski in the round of 16 match in the 85 kg category..

Roganović imposed his own rhythm from the very start. The first round was completely dominated by the Montenegrin boxer, who tactically executed the opening minutes flawlessly. After just two minutes of the fight, Roganović forced the referee to count the Ukrainian fighter, which gave him a clear and convincing 5:0 advantage on the judges' lists.

A great performance and diverse boxing was seen in the second round. Roganović controlled the distance and hit from all positions, and 40 seconds before the end of the round, he again forced the referee to count the Ukrainian with a devastating straight punch. This round also went to our boxer by unanimous decision of the judges (5:0).

Roganović put an end to this fight at the very start of the third round. After only 20 seconds of fighting, he delivered a devastating left hook that sent his rival to the floor, after which the referee stopped the fight.

The coach of the Montenegrin boxing team, Boško Drašković, did not hide his satisfaction after the match.

"Miloš had a fantastic match and fully respected everything we agreed on in the locker room. Tactically, he was impeccable, he showed exceptional maturity and strength against a very unpleasant opponent. This victory gives us a huge wind at our backs, but we remain firmly on the ground because the real challenges are yet to come. We are focused on the next match and we are going step by step towards the goal," said Boško Drašković.

The last obstacle for Roganović on his way to securing a bronze medal will be Belarusian Nazar Stalchuk, who defeated Vlad Pustai from Romania in the round of 16 by stoppage in the second round.

The Montenegrin team in Loznica is expecting another big challenge in the round of 16. Our national team member Vuk Dabović will fight for a place among the top eight, and his opponent in the ring will be the extremely high-quality Englishman Joshua Fleming. He is an undefeated fighter in his career so far and has an impressive record of 16 wins from the same number of matches.
