Roganović stopped in the quarterfinals of the European Championship - the Belarusian left-hander was an unsolvable enigma

Montenegrin boxer Matija Roganović failed to win a medal at the European Youth Championship under 19 in Loznica. The member of BK Nikšić was defeated tonight in the quarterfinals of the 85 kg category by Belarusian Nazar Stalchuk, who won by unanimous decision.

Roganović put up a strong fight in the "Lagator" hall, but his biggest problem was Stalčuk's awkward boxing from the counterguard. The first round was the most uncertain, but the judges awarded it to the Belarusian with a score of 4:1. Stalčuk was more specific in the next two rounds and managed to maintain his advantage until the end.

Thus, Roganović remained one step away from a medal, but left behind a tournament worthy of attention.

He reached the quarterfinals with two convincing victories. At the start of the championship, he defeated Italian Luca Casarsa by unanimous decision, while in the round of 16 against Ukrainian David Kurskiy, he showed even better boxing and won by stoppage in the third round.

After the match, Montenegrin national team coach Boško Drašković emphasized that his boxer gave his maximum, but also that his opponent was better this time.

"Matija entered the match with great desire and fought bravely from the first to the last second, but we have to be realistic and admit that our rival was better tonight. The Belarusian showed an extremely awkward style from the counterguard that we were unable to tactically neutralize in the ring. For Matija, this is a great school and invaluable experience on the big stage. I am proud of everything he showed at this championship, because with two dominant victories he proved that he possesses enormous quality and that he has a great boxing future ahead of him," said Drašković.

Roganović's defeat ended the Montenegrin national team's performance at the championship in Loznica.

Vuk Dabović finished the previous competition in the round of 16 of the 65 kg category. The BK Power Boxing member defeated Albanian Gabriel Nasufi by unanimous decision at the start, and then offered strong resistance to the first favorite of the tournament, undefeated Briton Joshua Fleming. However, Fleming, after a ruthless fight, advanced to the next round.
