The Montenegrin jiu-jitsu national team achieved another outstanding result at a major international competition.
At the Balkan Open for all age categories, held in Banja Luka from September 9 to 13, Montenegro won a convincing first place in the overall standings, out of 23 countries and more than 1.000 participants.
The Montenegrin national team won 46 gold medals, which is 14 more than second-place Romania, while the difference compared to the host Bosnia and Herzegovina was as much as 23 gold medals.
This result represents another confirmation of the quality and continuous progress of Montenegrin jiu-jitsu on the international scene.
This is another great success for the Montenegrin national team after the World Championship in Abu Dhabi, where Montenegro was declared the best team in the Fighting system. After the world title of the best team, the Montenegrin national team has now shown its quality at the Balkan level, winning first place in the overall standings.
"Behind these results are the dedicated work of the competitors, the expertise of the coaches, the support of the federation, clubs and families, but also an increasingly serious and organized work system that produces results year after year.
The achieved results also represent an excellent prelude to what is to come, the European Senior Championships, which will be held in Podgorica in 2027. Montenegro will thus host one of the most important events in European jiu-jitsu, and the results from Banja Luka provide additional reason for optimism in the face of the great challenge that lies ahead for our athletes. 46 gold medals, first place among 23 countries and confirmation that Montenegro belongs to the very top of European and world jiu-jitsu," the Montenegrin Jiu-jitsu Federation stated.
