Marko Vešović, a member of the Montenegrin national team and football player of Rijeka, once again shocked the Croatian public with his comments after the derby with Dinamo Zagreb.
"Write that Rijeka is the first, I'll give you everything," said Vešović in a raised tone to the reporters after arriving in the locker room, adding that Rijeka "has no competition in the HNL when everything is normal".
"Rijeka always plays fair! We have presented this club with dignity and fairness in Europe, thus defending Croatian football fairly. But here everything is different. You have seen everything, you are all smart. We are not children. After all, everyone can see how in Croatia , as well as in Europe. If someone's goal is for one team to be first in advance, let them tell us so that other teams can play in their own league," said our representative.
The league derby between Rijeka and Dinamo caused a real storm in the Croatian Football Association. The president of NK Rijeka, Damir Mišković, resigned from HNS.
After the leading goal for Rijeka, the main referee of the match, Ante Vučemilović-Šimunović, according to the opinion of the Rijeka footballers, but also a good deed of the public, changed the criteria and thus helped the Zagreb players to reach an equaliser.
The former player of Budućnosti from Podgorica was again good in the derby, and Rijeka scored a goal right after his assist for Aleksandar Gorgon.
"This is a derby, we have a motive and a desire, but despite what is happening around us, we will be the first. We will be the autumn champions. We have quality, we are the best, we are undefeated and everyone wants our scalp, but let it be done in the right way , and not like this," concluded Vešović.
