For loyalty, courage, quality of games, the captain of Atletico Madrid Gabi was rewarded by the club's management in the form of a new contract.
The 33-year-old midfielder, for whom Calderon is a football club, committed himself to stay among the "colchoneros" until June 2018.
Just to play the whole season at the new stadium, where Atletico will play from mid-2017.
"It will be the beginning of an exciting era for the club. I am proud to go down in history as the captain of the team."
And Gabi has long since earned a place in the history of Atlético, for which he made his debut in 2003.
Since then, he has played 318 games and looked forward to winning the Europa League, the European and national Super Cups, the Spanish Championship and the King's Cup.
He also played for Getafe (on loan in the 2004/2005 season) and Zaragoza, from 2007 to 2011 when he returned to Madrid.
"Playing for Atlético, as I have always said, was the realization of my boyhood dreams," Gabi said.
