Karabagh coach Gurban Gurbanov is in Montenegro again - football fans remember the two famous goals he scored in 2003 under Gorica to shock the national team of Serbia and Montenegro (2:2), which was then led by Dejan Savićević.
That result then resonated as a first-class sensation, but times change - 12 years later, the champion of Azerbaijan is a big favorite against the champion of Montenegro.
"Of course I remember those goals. They marked my career. It's nice to remember, but these are different circumstances. Now I'm a coach and I can no longer score goals," says Gurbanov.
He is confident of his team's passage to the 3rd round of Champions League qualification, despite the not-so-ideal 0:0 draw from Baku. Thus, when asked if relegation from Rudar would be a disaster for his team, he answered:
"I don't think that way. Football is a game where everything is possible and where surprises happen, but I am convinced that this time we will not allow a sensation. We are waiting for a very compact and motivated opponent, which we saw in the first match, but I believe that we have better team and that we will prove it in the second leg," Gurbanov added.
