Sutjeska convincingly defeated in Debrecen

Sutjeska players were convincingly defeated in Debrecen (3:0) in the first match of the 1st round of qualification for the Europa League.

Brajan Nenezić's men were one step away from relegation, as they matched the favored Hungarians only in the first half, which was not enough for a better result away from home, against a former participant in the Champions League.

In the following, the game of the Montenegrin champion completely fell apart on the field of the beautiful "Negrejdi" stadium, in front of slightly more than five thousand spectators.

The Hungarians took the lead in the 16th minute when Sutjeska's goalkeeper Vuk Radović unnecessarily ran outside the penalty area and headed the ball only to Mihelič, who lobbed it elegantly.

The team from Nikšić missed three good opportunities to score the much-desired goal in the first game.

The Japanese Masato was in a good position in the 18th minute, but goalkeeper Verpec saved his shot. Just three minutes later, Lukić also had a great opportunity after Božović's corner, and in the 44th, Verpec made a brilliant save to save Stevan Kovačević's great shot from a distance.

The players of Debrecen torpedoed Sutjeska's goal and used two of the many chances.

In the 71st minute, Serb Brković waited for the ball at the second post and sent it into the net with his head, and three minutes later striker Sidba made the final 3:0 with a precise left-footed shot from the heart of the penalty area.

"We played the first half at a high level, had three hundred percent chances, and scored a goal from our possession. We opened the second half well, we had another chance after the break, we didn't use it and there was a penalty from the corner. That completely cut us off and it is fortunate that the defeat is not even more convincing. We need to learn lessons, rest and prepare for the rematch, in which the goal is to leave the best possible impression," commented Sutjeska captain Jovan Nikolić.

The second leg is next Thursday in Nikšić.
