Nenezić: Debrecen is strong, but we also have trump cards

From Kopaonik straight to Debrecen - Sutjeska footballers have been out of Nikšić for two weeks, and on Thursday they will play the first match of the 1st round of qualification for the Europa League in Hungary.

The draw did not favor Brajan Nenezić's chosen team, who already at the start of this year's European stories got the rival of the recent Champions League participant.

However, there is no surrender, and two summers ago Mladost was an outsider against the then strong Videoton, so after a 2:1 defeat in Hungary, in the second leg in Gorica, they performed a miracle and went further, and after that even further...

Sutjeska footballers have not had much success in Europe in recent years, in the first round they usually meet strong rivals (Sherif twice), and this time they got a very strong opponent, but football is unpredictable...

"No matter how good Debrecen is, be sure that we also have our trump cards," says Brajan Nenezić, coach of Nikšić.

Sutjeska is further weakened compared to last year, there is no goalkeeper Ivan Janjušević, whose contract has expired, and no top scorer in the league, Goran Vujović, who is suspended.

Although, at least for the time being, they have not brought more sound reinforcements, the people of Nikšić believe that in the newly built, beautiful "Nagjeder" stadium, they can achieve a result that would give them hope before the rematch in Nikšić.

"We have received some information about the opponent, it is a quality team with many good individuals. But we can match them and we will not give up," says Nenezić, who would accept any result that gives a chance against Bistrica.

"It can be 0:0, 1:1, and the best thing would be to win," adds Nenezić with a smile.

Midfielder Stevan Kovačević is one of the main assets of his team.

"We don't calculate, we don't think about the result, we don't think about the rematch, we are only focused on the first match and to play as well as possible. Debrecen is the favorite, but that does not mean that we will lose. It is important that we enter the match psychologically strong, with confidence, we will see what it will bring us in the end," Kovačević points out.

The match in Debrecen will be played on Thursday at 18.30:9. The second leg is on July XNUMX near Bistrica.
