Although, for his circumstances, he had a good season and ensured safe survival, Elce will play in Segunda next season - the Spanish Professional League (LFP) kicked Elce out of Primera, because of unpaid debts.
Elće, who finished the season in 13th place, was fined 180.000 euros for a serious violation of the Spanish sports law and league regulations, LFP announced on its website.
Elce, based near Alicante, in the south-eastern part of Spain, previously announced that they would appeal if they were relegated to the second division because of the tax debt, which they claim they will settle by the end of July.
Elće played in Primera for two consecutive seasons, and the year before last he finished in 16th place.
The Basque club Eibar went to the Primera for the first time last season, only to be relegated on the last day of the championship, finishing in 18th place in the table.
