The Russian football club Rubin Kazan was suspended today for one year from European competitions for violating the rules of financial fair play.
Rubin did not pass the monitoring of the European Football Union (UEFA) due to the uncontrolled spending of money on transfers and player salaries.
UEFA announced that Rubin will not be able to play in the Champions League or the Europa League if he secures a place this season or next season.
It was not stated exactly how Rubin broke the rules.
Rubin is currently fifth in the table of the Russian championship, with two points less than the second place, which leads directly to the group stage of the Champions League.
The club from Kazan settled in May 2014 after the first sanctions due to financial fair play and then paid a total of six million euros.
