It was the Saturday of Sutjeska, in the true sense. It doesn't happen very often that the opponent's grid shakes six times, and all three rivals in the race for the title lose points on the same day.
Unlike Rudar (defeat in Kotor), Mladost (defeat in Bar), Budućnost (draw in Petrovac), Nikšić enjoyed a trip to the sea in one of the most unusual rounds in Montenegrin football in recent years.
Brajan Nenezić's team returned to the race for the title with a six-point win against Grblj (6:0). With the jump from fourth to second place, the gap behind Rudar was reduced to four points. Whether the complete season of the two-time champion turned around in just one afternoon will be shown by the next matches (the semi-finals of the Cup are already on Wednesday), a big hint has just arrived.
"The boys played in a disciplined, responsible, collective way. They implemented everything we agreed on on the field. Even when the goals and chances started, then such a convincing victory is not a big surprise. In Grblje, I was definitely convinced of what I already knew - when this team plays collectively, without individual emphasis, few can stop it," says coach Brajan Nenezić.
In just three rounds, Sutjeska reduced the gap in relation to Rudar from 10 to four points.
Eight rounds before the end of the season, Nikšić's team faces the Cup semi-final against Mladost. How good that sounds for a team that not so long ago was left without the coach who started the season (parting with Tomić), without the best footballer (Jovović's suspension) and the biggest winter reinforcement (Delibašić's departure).
"Minus four? That's not a big difference, it's an achievable difference. The end of the Cup awaits us, the real trials are yet to come, but the most important thing is that we're back in the game. Miner still has the advantage, we're not the only ones following him, but if we If there is a chance to take over the first position and win the title, we will not let it go," added coach Sutjeska.
Nenezić took over from Nikšić three rounds ago. Since then - three wins and a goal difference of 8:0, and the gap has been rapidly reduced.
Logical question - what did he change?
"I changed that by convincing the players that they didn't forget to play football overnight. I made them think like true professionals," says Nenezić, emphasizing that, above all, the atmosphere in the team has improved.
"They were terribly psychologically down, and not only that - I also found a kind of indiscipline, there was no order. And football and any sport cannot tolerate that".
Sutjeska now awaits two tied matches near Bistrica (Lovćen, Berane). And then, a series of derbies - Buducnost, Mladost and Rudar, when everything will be decided.
Radanovići for records - from 0:5 to 6:0
On Saturday in Radanovići, Sutjeska achieved its most convincing victory in independent Montenegro (6:0), on the same ground where, four years ago, it suffered its heaviest defeat - in the 2010/11 season. it was 5:0 for Grbalj.
The previous most convincing victory was achieved by the people of Nikšić in the 2012/13 season, when they beat Lovćen 6:1 in Cetinje.
Sutjeska won five more times in the past nine years against the rival with 4:0, of which twice this season (Berane and Mogren).
Saturday's 6:0 victory of Sutjeska over Grblje is also the most convincing that any team achieved this season.
An absolute and hard-to-achieve record in independent Montenegro was set by Grbalj in May 2010, with an 11:0 victory over Koma.
