The football club Rapid from Bucharest announced today that it will have to move out of the stadium where it has been playing since 1939, because it cannot pay for it.
Rapid stated that it did not reach an agreement with the state regarding the payment of the "Valentin Stanescu" stadium.
Romanian media stated that Rapid was asked to pay five thousand euros per game, but that the club, which is in a difficult financial situation, is unable to fulfill it.
During the season, Rapid also played its matches at the stadium in Ploesti, about 60 kilometers north of Bucharest.
The club's management apologized to the fans and announced that it was looking for a new stadium.
In August, the Court of Arbitration for Sport expelled Rapid from the first league due to non-fulfilled financial obligations.
The three-time champion did not receive permission to compete in the elite from the Romanian Football Federation after he filed for bankruptcy in November due to accumulated debts.
