Betis has appointed Argentine Gabriel Calderon as the new coach, it was announced today.
Calderon is the third coach of the Sevilla club this season, and he replaced Juan Carlos Garrido, who was fired due to poor results, on the bench.
Betis lost 0:5 to Real Madrid at home on Saturday and after 20 rounds they are in last place, in 20th place, with 11 points.
The club from Sevilla has eight points less than Almeria, which is in 17th place, outside the relegation zone.
Garrido replaced Pepe Melo on the bench, and worked at Betis for seven weeks. During that time, in five matches, the team won only one point.
Calderon will lead Betis until the end of the season, and if the team stays in the league, the contract will automatically be extended for another year.
"I always dreamed of working at Betis. "I didn't have a specific date, but when this delicate situation arose, I came running," said Calderon.
Between 53 and 1983, Calderon (1987) played for Betis and the Argentine national team. Among other clubs, he coached Cannes, Lausanne, Al Etihad, and was also the coach of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
