Football club Betis fired coach Pepe Melo due to poor results in the Spanish championship, it was announced today.
In the announcement of the club from Sevilla, it is stated that "the decision was difficult, but that the team needs to change the result".
Mel took over Betis in 2010 and helped them return to Primera.
The team will be led by the former coach of Villarreal and Brugge, Juan Carlos Garrido, until the end of the season.
After 15 rounds in the Spanish Primera, Betis is in last, 20th place with 10 points.
This season, Betis achieves better results in European competitions, as it qualified for the second stage of the Europa League, the round before the end of the group competition.
