Monaco's new footballers Jeremy Toulalan and Ricardo Carvalho said today that the club is well "armed" to replace Paris Saint-Germain as French champions in the upcoming season.
"We have armed ourselves to fight with PSG, but there are other competitors for the title. Our goal is to be champions, this Monaco project is very good for French football," French media reported Tulalan's words.
Monaco has so far spent more than 130 million euros on reinforcements in the transfer window, the biggest of which is Colombian striker Radamel Falcao.
"I know Falka well, he is a very dangerous striker who has brought special value to this club," Carvalho said.
The former Real Madrid defender said that he is aware that he has a lot of competition in the position of stopper, but that he is determined to prove that he is still good enough despite his age.
"I feel good, I will fight to win a place in the team. I had other offers, but I considered this one from Monaco the best. The important thing is that I believe in this project," said the 35-year-old Portuguese.
Monaco's latest addition is Barcelona defender Erik Abidal, who started his professional career at this club.
"I am very happy for Abidal, we all know the quality he will bring to us," Carvalho pointed out.
Monaco will start the season in the first French league on August 10, when they will visit Bordeaux.
