Sena leaves Villarreal and goes to the USA

Former Spanish international and long-term member of Villarreal Marcos Sena confirmed today that he is leaving the club and will continue his career in the USA.

"Sena is an authentic symbol of the 'Yellow Submarine' who made a great contribution to the development of the club. He accepted a new challenge both on a sporting and personal level and will play in the USA next season," it was announced on the official website of Villarreal.

Since 2002, Sena has played for the club more than anyone else - 363 games in all competitions and was part of the team that played in the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2006.

Sena played a significant role in the first of the Spanish national team's last major successes - when he started five of the six games at the 2008 European Championship, when Spain won the title.

He achieved his last success with Villarreal on Sunday when his team returned to Primera with a 1:0 win against Almeria.
