The Football Association of England (FA) and the Foundation of English Footballers gave 40.000 pounds to help the treatment of former international Paul Gascoigne from alcoholism.
Gascoigne (45) was admitted to intensive care last weekend after complications arose while receiving treatment at a clinic in Arizona.
The former footballer of Newcastle, Tottenham, Lazio, Rangers and Everton has been fighting alcoholism for a long time, and his psychotherapist John McKeon said that there is progress.
FA chief Adrian Bevington said Gascoigne was the most gifted footballer of his generation and the FA was doing the right thing by providing money for his treatment.
