Lionel Messi was named the world soccer player of the year in the selection of the British magazine "WorldSoccer", while Vicente Del Bosque was chosen as the best coach.
Messi won twice as many votes as his main competitor, Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid. The third place is Messi's teammate from Barcelona Andres Iniesta.
It is the third time Messi has won this award, after he was the best in 2009 and 2011. The Argentine joined the Brazilian Ronaldo, who until now was the only three-time winner of the "WorldSoccer" award.
Del Bosque won the competition from Jose Mourinho and Roberto Di Matteo.
Of course, Spain was chosen as the best national team.
This year, for the first time in the 30-year history of the British magazine awards, readers' votes were combined with those of an independent panel of experts.
