Wolfsburg coach Felix Magat called the great interest in "Wolves" forward Marijo Mandžukić an "open race" for the Croatian goalscorer.
Offers for Wolfsburg are coming from all over after Mandžukić scored three goals in three matches for Croatia in the group stage of the European Championship. The strongest one arrived two days ago - it was sent by Bayern Munich, the vice-champion of Europe.
"The fact is that at the moment there are clubs that are interested in Mario Mandžukić. I would call it an open race. I don't want to prevent the departure of a footballer who wants to go, and there is interest in him. But, don't think that I want to I will get rid of Mandžukić," said Magat, the former coach of Bayern and Wolfsburg.
Magat and Mandžukić did not have the best relations during the previous season, which is why the Croatian striker spent a lot of time on the bench. After the end of the season, the media wrote that Mandžukić was on Magat's transfer list, but after the explosion at the European Championship, everything took on a new dimension...
Meanwhile, Wolfsburg brought in another Croat, Ivica Olić. It remains to be seen whether the popular "Ola" will be Mandžukić's teammate, or whether their paths will diverge...
"There is an offer, but everything is still far from being realized," concluded Magat.
Bayern choose who to pair with Maria Gomez - Edin Dzeko or, perhaps, Mario Mandzukic.
