In the first match of the play-off for the Bundesliga, Wolfsburg defeated Holstein Kiel 3:1.
It could be said that the champion from 2009 and vice-champion from 2015 has taken care of all the markets regarding survival, but the "wolves" will have to fear for another four days, when the rematch is played in the north of Germany.
Namely, the team from the city, which is known for its handball giants, missed a few shots in the finish and showed that they will be able to make life miserable for Bruno Labadia's team in the rematch on Monday.
The home team took the lead with a goal by Divok Origi, who "picked up" the scrap and shook the net in the 13th minute. The visitors equalized in the 34th minute, when Dominik Drexler made a phenomenal pass and assisted Kingsley Schindler.
Josip Brekalo returned the advantage to Wolfsburg with an extremely strong shot in the 40th minute, and in the 56th minute Junus Mali walked into the net for the final 3:1.
The club, which was in the fourth division when Wolfsburg was champion, and entered Zvejta last summer after a 36-year break, had chances in the last 20 minutes through Alexander Milling, Aron Seidel and Marvin Dukš, but could not shake the net of Kun Kastels.
However, everything is open before the showdown at the "Holstein Stadium" on Monday, May 21.
