Republic of Ireland coach Giovani Trapatoni extended his contract with the national association (FAI) for two years today, so that he will lead the team until the 2014 World Cup.
Trapatoni was handed a new contract after leading the national team to the 2012 European Championships, which will be Ireland's first major competition in a decade.
"I am very happy to continue working in Ireland," said the experienced coach.
Trapattoni's assistant Marco Tardelli also received a new contract.
Ireland defeated Estonia in two matches in the play-off for the European Championship and thus qualified for the first major competition since the World Cup in 2002.
