From the special reporter "Vijesti"
The combined Montenegrin team capitulated against Switzerland in the second half, but the defeat in Basel is at least a thousand times more painless than it would have been if Andrija Delibašić had not knocked the ball into the English net on Friday.
This way, the song from the north of "St. Jakob Park" did not stop, Montenegro saved the barrage even with the defeat, while Switzerland was left with a small consolation that it showed that it is a better team than the Montenegrin second team.
After the first 45 minutes, in which the host team was just slightly better, Montenegro fell at the beginning of the second half: Derdjok and Lichsteiner spared their selection a whistle due to their failure in the qualifiers.
Brnović did not see much
If the match was viewed from the point of view of things that could be useful, Branko Brnović could hardly see if he got any new footballer for the barrage. Maybe it's Dejan Damjanović, although the Seoul forward was already known to have class...
Montenegro started the match with only two or three standard first-team players (Božović, Savić, Zverotić, Drinčić), which did not prevent them from being almost equal in the first half against the strongest Swiss team.
In the 14th minute, after a good pass from Pejović, Damjanović shot from an angle into Benalj, which was an announcement that Montenegro did not come to Basel just as a tourist. The Swiss retaliated through Mehmedi (weakly caught the ball from a good position), followed by two shots from distance by Inler and Behrami, but all that was not enough for a goal.
With the leading goal, the Swiss disrupted the concept of the Montenegrin team, they went through our defense like a knife through butter
In the 31st minute, Montenegro threatened again, another shot by Damjanović ended up just off the goalpost, while the Swiss responded through Derdjok, who shot over the crossbar. The home team then had the best chance in the first half, Džaka pushed the thief through the legs of Savić, looked into the eyes of Božović, but the Montenegrin goalkeeper was awake. We went on vacation without goals...
The Montenegrin team also received two yellow cards in the first half, fortunately neither Đalović nor Bećiraj were given the same number of yellow cards. How "easy on the trigger" Portuguese referee Olegario Benkerenca was was shown by the fact that two Swiss players, Lichtsteiner and Behrami, received two yellow cards in a short space of time. Nevertheless, Montenegro was careful in the continuation, only Ćetković received a yellow card.
Quick capitulation
However, Montenegro did not last, in the 51st minute the ball ended up in the net, but not because the Swiss outplayed our team, but due to an incredible set of circumstances. Derdjok, in fact, tried to assist Xhaka, goalkeeper Mladen Božović instead of picking up the ball hit his namesake Draško, the assist turned into a goal, and the Leverkusen striker raised his hands neither guilty nor obliged...
Montenegro reacted well after Switzerland's lead, already in the next attack Đalović had a zicer on Bećiraj's pass (saved by Benaljo), and Zverotić also had a good chance, but the ball ended up wide of the goal.
The Swiss, however, disrupted the concept of the Montenegrin team with the leading goal, they went through our defense like a knife through butter, it was only a matter of time before the second goal would fall. Mehmedi and Šaćiri had good chances, and then the ball cut the grass after Juventus' Lichtsteiner's shot, Božović sent it into the net with just a glance.
Eager for revenge, Hitzfeld ordered a new attack, the players obeyed him, it was shining after Šaćiri's shots, but Božović saved the net on three occasions. The score remained 2:0, both the Swiss and Montenegrin fans applauded.
