The President of the Football Association of Montenegro (FSCG) Dejan Savićević said in an interview for the Belgrade "Nedeljnik" that the general manager of Crvena zvezda Zvezdan Terzić called the then head coach of the Montenegrin national football team Ljubiša Tumbaković and told him that the Crvena zvezda footballer and Montenegrin representative Mirko Ivanić should not to play a match with Kosovo, because a lot of money was invested in bringing him and it wouldn't be good, because the fans won't allow him to play for Zvezda.
"Nedeljnik" writes that Savićević had a more heated conflict with Terzić in the days after the match between Montenegro and Kosovo, and that very harsh words were spoken.
"They were through the press. I didn't call him. He was the first man from Serbia who said that it had nothing to do with this. No one called, only him, to say that it had nothing to do with it and that the players didn't ask him anything. Oh, he did interfere. What's the way to say that you didn't, and you called the players, passed messages, sent messages. And he called Tumbaković. And told him that Ivanić should not play, because a lot of money was invested in bringing him and how it wouldn't be good, because the fans won't allow him to play for Zvezda," Savićević pointed out.
He said that Terzić also called Ivanić, and as far as he understood, he was not in good communication with another Zvezda player and Montenegrin representative who also did not want to play against Kosovo - Filip Stojković.
"At least he wasn't then, I don't know if they improved relations. And later he changed the story to the fact that I am against the Serbs. He is sending people messages that I hate Serbs. But, just so that he is not mistaken that someone in Montenegro believed in that. And as far as football people are concerned and those he cares about and his friend whom he goes to see with curtsies. So that he doesn't think he convinced him... He will know who I mean," said Savićević.
"Nedeljnik" states that the impression is that after everything Savićević least resents Ivanić and Stojković, even though the whole "affair" was caused by them.
"They were in the biggest problem, the two of them. After the game with the Czech Republic, they should have returned to Belgrade and reported for preparations. They probably would have had problems with the fans in every sense, including physical ones," said Savićević.
"Nedeljnik" writes that Ljubiša Tumbaković said at the appointment as the coach of Serbia that there were harsh words at the last meeting with Savićević, which the first man of Montenegrin football denies.
"There were no harsh words, it wouldn't be good for him. I avoided any harsh words, because I know how far it would lead me. I avoided any discussions with him, because I know myself. At that meeting, he almost cried. "I betrayed you", I remember that well. "I don't know how I got from the room to the conference room". I also remember those words well. He also said that 'these are not football topics'. And then he threw up a bit." , Savićević said.
Among other things, Savićević said about Ljubiša Tumbaković, who in the meantime became the coach of Serbia:
"You don't become a patriot at one minute to 12. And that's after a call from the cabinet. When we got Kosovo out of the way, he could be such a patriot and tell me: 'Dejo, I can't handle it.' He could also come in March, when our first matches were over, and tell me: 'Look, Dejo, Kosovo is coming, I can't do it.' And then if he had told me, I would have told him: 'Okay, I accept.'"
The president of the FSCG also said that after the meeting he came and informed Tumbaković of the decision to dismiss him, although Tumbaković had already read the news on the Internet that he had been dismissed.
"I told him that it was my opinion and the opinion of the members of the Executive Committee, that he should have led the national team. He sat for another ten, 15 minutes, picked himself up and left. I avoided him explaining anything to me," said Savićević.
Savićević especially emphasized that he does not believe that Tumbaković did all this with premeditation, in order to become the coach of Serbia.
And he is sure that the Football Association of Serbia (FSS) did not participate in this whole case.
"No, I don't believe (that it was premeditated). Really not. But when the opportunity opened up, then the favor was returned to him. Surely no one will think that Tumbakovic became a coach in Montenegro. And the Football Association of Serbia has nothing to do with this. "I would not like anyone to think that the FSS participated in all of this. They had their troubles after the debacle in Ukraine. I don't blame them for taking Tumba," Savićević told "Nedeljnik".
