Podgorica footballer Anđelko Jovanović could be suspended for six months, because he left the preparations of the young national team of Montenegro.
The FSCG announced today that "disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against Jovanović for unjustifiably leaving the preparations of the U-21 national team of Montenegro for the qualification matches for placement at the U-21 European Championship in 2021", and that he has been suspended until the decision of the FSCG Disciplinary Commission is made.
According to Article 83 of the FSCG Disciplinary Rules, the punishment for such a violation can be a fine, and a ban from playing for up to 12 games or up to six months.
As we learn, Jovanović asked coach Miodrag Vukotić to release him from his duties in the national team, during the preparations for the match with the Faroe Islands, and he stated that he noticed during training that he was not in the best combination for the first team.
He considered that it is better for him to return to the club, than to stay in the national team and try to impose himself for the matches with the Faroe Islands and Spain!
Montenegro beat the Faroe Islands 3:0 and lost to Spain 2:0.
