Today, the pairings for the Spanish Super Cup were drawn, which will be held for the first time on the soil of Saudi Arabia, which will host this competition for the next three years.
The competition will now have four teams, and the pairs of semi-final matches are Valencia - Real Madrid and Barcelona - Atletico Madrid. The semi-final matches will be played on January 8 and 9, while the final is scheduled for January 12.
The matches will be played at King Abdullah Stadium in the city of Jeddah. Interestingly, in the contract between the Spanish federation and the authorities in Saudi Arabia, it is stated that women will be allowed to enter the stadium, without restrictions related to the clothes they will wear.
The prize fund of the tournament will be 120 million euros, and all four teams will share at least 20 million each.
This is not the first time that the Super Cup is organized outside of Spain. Morocco hosted last year's duel in which Barcelona beat Sevilla.
